This was August and the first day of school......
This was yesterday....the last day of school. Marin finished 1st Grade and Bennett finished Kindergarten. It was crazy fast. I was crazy emotional when school started in the fall, because I didn't want our fabulous summer to end....and yesterday I was super emotional about school ending because we have had such a great year. At MCA, the kinders and 1st graders are together for lunch and recess, so they were able to eat lunch at the same time (helpful for me on the days that I took lunch to them!) and they played outside together at recess. (also helpful to me because I got two sides to each story!) As a result, their friends all know each other and know both of them - it was very sweet to watch. They both had great teachers - both of them very suited to the girls' very different personalities.
This was Reese's funny face of the day. It is something that she loves to surprise us with most days. Her hair looks a bit strange from this angle, but it finally fits into a decent ponytail, so from the side and back she looks very cute.
The end of year program. They recognized the Top Readers. Marin came in 3rd place for all of the Kindergarten thru 4th grade students. She read over 6000 minutes from October to April. She is just like me with books.....always reading.
The Kindergarten students said Phillipians 2:3-4 and also sang a song called "Inside Out". Bennett liked to explain it to us...."it is like Jesus is on the inside in your heart and you just have to let Him out and tell other people." She LOVED all the hand motions. We were cracking up at her, because she was practically shoving people into their places before they got started. She told me that she has to "help them remember where to stand." After we got home she told Cody that she loved being on stage.....obviously.
The 1st Graders had just finished a big Texas unit. So, they each had a Texas fact that they recited from memory. She did so great. The picture is fuzzy because Reese was constantly moving from me to Cody to my mom.
After the program it was time for field day games and hot dogs!
