Spring trip to Sea World

These first four pictures are totally out of order. They were taken w/ Cody's phone and I uploaded them after I had started the original post and I can't seem to get them in the right place. Anyway....

This picture should be w/ the riverwalk picture - we were being grumpy old trolls under a bridge....

Marin's favorite part of staying in hotels is getting the Texas shaped waffles in the morning.

After eating at Carrabba's, we were waiting for traffic to improve a bit. We ended up at Borders - it was FREEZING in there. Everyone got hot chocolate and we split some AMAZING chocolate chip cookies....after Reese had been eating awhile she announced that "it must be candy day today!!"

The treats - the whole experience in that cafe was totally hilarious.

Now they are in order.....

We have annual passes to Sea World, so we returned for a visit this weekend. The girls love it there and I love San Antonio...plus Cody and I get the bonus of getting to eat at Chipotle and Carrabba's - both of which we love. This trip was a bit different because Cody was already in Bandera for a "Team Building" work thing....I think the writers of The Office could have gotten some really good material from that event. I picked the girls up early from school - at 11:00 on Thursday and headed out of town. BUT, our town was totally flooded...it took me 45 minutes just to get out of town - and I ended up on the Interstate - a safer choice, but it wasn't EXACTLY going in the direction I needed to be going. We eventually (7 hours instead of 5) got there - never once did I turn my windshield wipers off. We were so glad to make it to the hotel and see Cody!

The huge blessing was....it rained the day we got there and the day we left, but the day we went to Sea World was PERFECT....no rain. The sun came out in the afternoon...it was beautiful!

She is saying Sea World. I was trying to capture the curls. We never have humidity like that part of the state, so she doesn't often get REALLY curly.....looks just like mine did at that age.

As soon as we get there we always head to Dophin Cove - we were the first ones there that morning to feed the dolphins.
All three girls took turns - they have figured out how to hold the fish up and touch the dophin BEFORE feeding the fish to them.

Marin's turn

Reese did a great job this time.

Marin watching the Sea Lion show. It is her favorite one.

Part of the Sea Lion show. We were in the splash zone on this one - Marin's idea. Thankfully, we avoided getting soaked....unlike the people on our left and right. At the Shamu show and the Beluga whale show I made sure we were far away from splash zones. I didn't take pictures of it, but one of the "Shamu"s and one of the Beluga whales both had little babies following them around in the water - it was so cute.

Marin and her lorikeets. As SOON as we stepped into their cage, one landed right on Reese's head AND another one right on my head. Reese was screaming and I wanted to. These are bigger than the ones at the zoo - and they are just everywhere - landing on you everywhere. Reese and Bennett and I got out of there fast.

It rained a bit this day...but it wasn't bad. The first graders at Marin's school are doing a unit on Texas history. She has an oral presentation to give later this month, so while we were in town, we collected a few pictures for her to use.

Since we were downtown, we headed over to the Riverwalk. Just love that place....
These look like trashbags, but they are actually ponchos that Cody picked up at the Target by our hotel :-)

We saw HUGE patches of bluebonnets on the way home. So beautiful. It was difficult to find a safe place to stop, but we found this small patch.
